On July 1, the official micro-news of China Huadian Qinghai Company said that recently, the 10 million kilowatt photovoltaic project of Golmud East Base in Qinghai Qaidam Desert was put on record.
It is reported that, Golmud East Base in Qaidam Desert has the largest planned construction capacity, the largest total investment and the highest proportion of new energy in China. The "Shagehuang" new energy delivery base power supply project, which includes the ultra-supercritical thermal power project with the highest altitude, is also the first cross-provincial and cross-business area new energy delivery base power supply project in China.
The project is located in Dazaohuo, Golmud City, Qinghai Province, with a photovoltaic installed capacity of 10 million kilowatts, supporting the construction of photovoltaic field array box transformers and convergence lines. Facilities such as operation and maintenance, centralized control, access, maintenance roads and other ancillary facilities in the project area, and simultaneously carry out ecological management work. After the completion of the
project, it is estimated that the average annual power generation will be about 18 billion kilowatt-hours. According to
public information, the total investment of the project of Golmud East Base in Damu Desert is about 80 billion yuan , with a planned total installed capacity of 19.24 million kilowatts, including 5 million kilowatts of wind power projects. Photothermal projects are 100000 kilowatts, photovoltaic projects are 10 million kilowatts , coal power is 2.64 million kilowatts, and energy storage is 1.5 million kilowatts. Supporting the construction of 330kV gathering station, 750kV booster station and outgoing lines, and simultaneously carry out ecological control.
The project received the reply from the National Development and Reform Commission in November 2024, the approval of the power supply scheme from the National Energy Administration in February 2025, and the construction started on February 26, 2025.
