According to foreign media reports, Waaree Energies, India's largest solar panel manufacturer, said recently that it would seize the opportunity of clean energy demand in the United States. It will invest no more than $1 billion (equivalent to RMB 7.149 billion) to build a factory in Houston, Texas, USA.
Waaree said its planned Brookhill, Texas, plant will be one of the largest solar plants in the country by 2027, with an annual panel capacity of 3GW by the end of 2024, and then expand to 5G W .
Waaree will also add an American-made solar cell complex, which is expected to be operational by 2025. The company expects that the total capacity of the new plant will create more than 1,500 jobs in the United States. Waaree has delivered more than 4GW of Indian-made solar panels to US customers.
Waaree has secured a 5-year supply agreement with Redwood City, California-based somebody Energy, which supports the company's expansion plans in the United States. SB Energy has more than 2GW of solar projects in operation in the United States, 1GW under construction, and another 15GW of solar and energy storage projects under development.
India's solar manufacturing industry is growing rapidly and is just beginning to use its technology in the United States, and both countries want to build a clean energy sector to compete with China.
