Water Resources Department of Hubei Province has recently joined forces with nine departments, including the Provincial Higher People's Court, the Provincial People's Procuratorate and the Provincial Public Security Department, to carry out joint law enforcement of river sand mining management, to further promote the special law enforcement actions for the safety protection of rivers and lakes throughout the province, to crack down on illegal mining of mineral resources and illegal sand mining in rivers, and to crack down on illegal sand mining in the Yangtze River.
Nine departments formed seven supervisory groups, dispatched 2387 law enforcement officers, 97 law enforcement boats and 605 law enforcement vehicles, and inspected 71 centralized berthing points for sand dredgers, 34 mineable areas and dredging projects. No violations of laws and regulations were found during the operation. Since the beginning of
this year, Hubei has consolidated its responsibilities layer by layer, strengthened linkage and cooperation, strengthened the regulation of sand-related vessels at the source, closely coordinated upstream and downstream, left and right bank areas, strictly investigated and punished illegal sand mining activities, and the management order of river sand mining has remained stable and improved.
