Crack down on illegal sand mining to protect the Yangtze River ecology, Hubei Jingzhou multi-sectoral joint law enforcement

According to the unified arrangement of Hubei Province, on March 7, the Water Conservancy and Lake Bureau of Jingzhou District organized the Jingzhou Branch of Changhang Public Security Bureau and maritime departments to carry out joint law enforcement to investigate and deal with sand-related violations in the waters of Jingzhou section of the Yangtze River, Juzhang River, Hudu River and the canal from the Yangtze River to the Han River. At the site of the dredging project at the opening of the canal from the Yangtze River to the Han River, law enforcement officers focused on inspecting the ship operation certificate, the ship inspection certificate and whether the operation ship was carried out in accordance with the dredging project plan. During the inspection, law enforcement officers also publicized the Yangtze River Protection Law to the crew.

In Libu Port Area, law enforcement officers boarded a sand and gravel transport ship in Yueyang, Hunan Province for inspection. During the joint law enforcement operation on that day, law enforcement officers inspected three sand-related vessels and found no violations of laws and regulations.

In recent years, Jingzhou District has continuously intensified the inspection of the prohibition of mining in the Yangtze River to weave the "protective net" of the Yangtze River. In 2022, a total of 6747.2 kilometers of the Yangtze River and inland rivers were inspected, 687 law enforcement boats and 3156 law enforcement officers were dispatched.

Through a comprehensive investigation of sand-related vessels on the river surface in the jurisdiction area, as well as frequent and irregular open and secret visits in key areas, one case of "ant moving" illegal river sand mining at Shitaozikou of the Yangtze River was seized in time, and two loaders and transporters were detained and transferred to the public security organs for investigation and prosecution; All-round and strict supervision of 1047 barges and sand trading vessels entering and leaving Jingzhou Libu Port and 1939200 tons of river sand has effectively maintained the order of sand pipes in the Yangtze River.
