In order to strengthen the management of sand mining in rivers, crack down on illegal sand mining in rivers, and ensure the stability and controllability of the management order of sand mining in rivers in flood season. Recently, the Huanggang Water Conservancy and Lake Bureau organized the administrative departments of Wuhan, Ezhou and Huangshi, as well as the public security and maritime departments, to jointly carry out the law enforcement action of the Qingjiang River in the lower reaches of Wuhan, the main stream of the Yangtze River (code-named "2023-Linkage 2"). During the
operation, the counties (cities and districts) organized multi-sectoral and cross-regional joint law enforcement in light of the actual situation. Emphasis was laid on the inspection of sand mining management on rivers (lakes and reservoirs), centralized berthing points and ship supervision of sand mining vessels, site supervision of licensed mining areas and dredging (dredging) sand and gravel comprehensive utilization projects, legal source certificates of sand and gravel held by sand transport vessels (vehicles) and river branches, wharfs, sand yards, anchorages and ship repair.
In this joint law enforcement operation, 151 law enforcement officers, 18 law enforcement boats, 13 law enforcement vehicles, 8 centralized stops and 3 licensed mining areas were inspected, and no violations were found. Wang Yongzhong, Director of River Sand Mining and River and Lake Administration of
the Yangtze River Commission, Xiong Chunmao, Chief Economist of the Provincial Water Resources Department, and Wu yuanming, Director of the Municipal Water Resources and Lake Administration, participated in the law enforcement action.
