"Bamboo winding pipeline is made of bamboo through deep processing, which has the characteristics of high deformation resistance and high construction efficiency." Han Lu, a staff member of China Railway Construction Exhibition, introduced that this is a new type of bio-based pipeline which can replace most of the traditional pipelines such as welded steel pipes, plastic pipes and reinforced concrete drainage pipes.

According to estimates, compared with spiral welded pipes, the production of 10 million tons of bamboo winding composite pressure pipes can save 45.05 million tons of crude steel and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 30.63 million tons.
"In the process of traffic engineering construction, this product has also been widely used." Han Lu introduced that in the construction project of Chongqing-Kunming high-speed rail, bamboo winding pipeline was first applied in the field of traditional tunnel construction. Compared with the spiral welded pipe used in the past, the inner wall of the high-pressure air duct made of bamboo winding composite material is very smooth, the roughness and friction resistance are very small, and the conveying capacity can be significantly improved. At the same time, the bamboo winding pipe also has the advantage of light weight, and the overall weight after equipment is only one third of the spiral welded pipe.
China is the country with the most abundant bamboo resources in the world, and is also the first country to develop and use bamboo. As a rich renewable resource, it is of great significance to actively and effectively develop bamboo resources for the protection of the ecological environment. In 2022, the Chinese government and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization jointly launched the "Bamboo for Plastic" initiative to promote the solution of environmental and climate issues.
"At present, we have built three bamboo winding pipeline production bases with an annual capacity of 25000 tons, and the products have been put into use in more than 20 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), which have the conditions for large-scale promotion."
