It is designed with two towers and a single span and crosses the river with a main span of 1860 meters. It is the world's first double-deck steel truss suspension bridge with four main cables of different sag, and is also the world's largest double-deck suspension bridge currently under construction.

At the construction site of the main tower of the south bank project of Yanji Yangtze River Bridge, which was constructed by CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., the main pier tower column of the bridge has broken through 70 meters. A "tower crane" suspended at high altitude closely surrounds the bridge tower, forming a circular construction platform at high altitude. Engineers are operating giant tower cranes for intensive construction. It is understood that this is the largest tonnage tower crane in Hubei Province at present, with a maximum lifting weight of 120 tons.

"We are now using a new technology to transfer the loose binding work of the original tower column reinforcement to the lower part of the tower column, complete the assembly of the parts reinforcement under the tower, and then hoist the parts reinforcement segments as a whole, which not only reduces the working time of workers at high altitude, but also ensures the construction quality." The project technician Wu Youkang said.

The main tower is the "main skeleton" of the Yangtze River Bridge. Yanji Yangtze River Bridge is only 5 kilometers away from Ezhou Huahu Airport. Influenced by factors such as aviation height limit, waterway width limit and fault zone limit, it will be more "robust" to adopt high-strength and super-thick-walled portal tower structure, which urgently requires the adoption of new materials and new technologies. Luo Hang, chief engineer of the project of CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., introduced that the tower crane integrates "low support system + double-layer intelligent maintenance system", and has many functions, such as steel bar adjustment, automatic auxiliary distribution and vibration of concrete, intelligent maintenance, automatic switching and intelligent control of rail climbing, emergency escape and so on. When the tower crane climbs, it can move up as a whole through the built-in device. The climbing speed can reach 5 to 10 meters per hour. Even in extreme weather such as strong winds, workers can still walk on the ground at a height of 100 meters.
