In order to ensure the safety of flood discharge and waterway in the main rivers of Zhuhai City, and maintain the health of rivers and the safety of water ecological environment. Recently, under the overall arrangement of the Hechang Office of Zhuhai City, the Municipal Water Bureau took the lead in organizing a special joint law enforcement action against illegal sand and mud washing in the third quarter of 2023. A total of 17 law enforcement officers from eight departments, including the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Municipal Natural Resources Bureau, the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Bureau, the Municipal Transportation Bureau, the Municipal Marine Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment and the Zhuhai Maritime Bureau, participated in the law enforcement action. On the night of the
law enforcement operation, the joint law enforcement team set out from the Jingan section of the Huangyang River in Doumen to the Hutiaomen Waterway, and carried out special law enforcement inspections on the Jitimen Waterway, Huangyang River, Laolaoxi, Hemaxi, Hengkeng Waterway and Hutiaomen Waterway along the way. The joint law enforcement operation took more than four hours and the voyage was about 140 kilometers. In the meantime, law enforcement officers boarded and inspected three sand (mud) transport vessels, and each department verified the relevant certificates of the source of the sand and mud, the destination of the transport, the vessel and the crew, and found no violations of laws and regulations, nor illegal sand washing, illegal sand mining (transportation) and dumping of dregs and garbage. Law enforcement officers also distributed more than 20 publicity materials, such as brochures on water laws and regulations and the Notice on Prohibiting Environmental Pollution Activities such as Sand and Mud Washing in Sea Waterways and River Waters, to the relevant personnel of mud carriers along the way, and reminded the ship owners that it is illegal to transport river sand and wash sand and mud in sea waterways and river waters without legal sources of sand. The relevant person in charge of
the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau said that the action was a joint law enforcement activity led by the Municipal Water Affairs Bureau under the overall coordination of the Municipal River Chief Office, and that it was an important measure to continuously work together to combat and deter illegal sand washing and mud washing in sea waterways and river waters to destroy the ecological environment of the waters. Continue to maintain the high-pressure situation of cracking down on illegal sand and mud washing law enforcement, and jointly maintain the "Shuiyan River Clear" of Zhuhai's sea waterway.
