Recently, the Jiangmen Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau, in conjunction with the provincial Xijiang River Basin Administration, Jiangmen Public Security and Maritime Affairs departments, organized the county (city, district) water administration departments and the Municipal Jiangxin Lianwei Administratio n Office to launch the third joint law enforcement campaign against illegal sand mining (transportation) and river and lake safety protection in the Xijiang River, Hutiaomen Waterway and the main stream of the Tanjiang River in 2023. Strictly crack down on illegal sand mining (transportation), illegal sand and mud washing, and other illegal activities affecting the safety of rivers and lakes, further standardize the order of river management, and earnestly safeguard the water ecological environment of river waters in Jiangmen City.
"This joint law enforcement special action adopts a combination of surprise inspection and publicity and education, focusing on illegal sand mining (transportation), illegal sand washing and mud washing, sand or silt disposal and other illegal acts affecting the safety of rivers and lakes within the scope of river management of Jiangmen Municipal Section of Xijiang River, Hutiaomen Waterway and the main stream of Tanjiang River." The relevant person in charge of the Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau said that in the process of law enforcement, law enforcement officers boarded the ship to inspect the relevant documents, crew certificates and certificates of the source of sand transported by the ship, registered and registered one by one, and distributed leaflets to publicize relevant water laws and regulations.
A total of 87 law enforcement officers, 4 law enforcement vessels and 13 law enforcement vehicles were dispatched, 10 sand transport vessels were inspected and more than 150 publicity materials were distributed. In the course of the operation, no illegal acts affecting the safety of rivers and lakes, such as illegal sand mining (transportation), illegal sand washing and mud washing, and abandonment of sand or silt, have been found within the scope of river management.
