According to the provisions of the Measures, it is forbidden to engage in activities that damage the ecology and pollute the environment, such as sand washing (including washing, soaking, filtering, desalinating sea sand, mountain sand, silt and construction waste) in sea waterways and river waters. Zhongshan Maritime Bureau said that with the acceleration of urbanization in China, the amount of sand used for construction has increased dramatically, and the sand mining and transportation industry has developed rapidly. Illegal sand washing not only endangers the safety of water traffic, but also brings about ecological damage and environmental pollution in the waters, which is often accompanied by illegal acts such as unauthorized heightening of cargo hold coamings, increasing pumps, piping and other ship refitting, super-high, overloading and over-navigation areas.
Next, Zhongshan Maritime Bureau will further strengthen the supervision and management of sand and gravel transport ships, and do a good job of safety publicity, education and industry guidance for the main bodies responsible for safety production such as ships and sand and gravel wharfs. At the same time, we should strengthen routine inspection and information notification, strengthen joint law enforcement with the departments of ecological environment, transportation, water administration and marine comprehensive law enforcement, and severely crack down on illegal sand washing by ships.
