Italian cement production rose strongly in October, up 9% from a year earlier, extending September's 5% rise. According to Federbeton, the Italian concrete association, this growth is evident. In terms of import and export data, cement imports in September increased by 37% year-on-year to 234,000 tons, with a total CIF value of 19.3 million euros, equivalent to 83 euros per ton; cement exports increased by 4% year-on-year to 125,000 tons, with a total FOB value of 11.9 million euros, equivalent to 95 euros per ton. In terms of
price, cement prices fell by 2% in October compared with the same period last year. From January to October 2025, cement production increased by 2% year-on-year. From January to September, cement imports increased by 10.9% to 2.085 million tons, while exports decreased by 7.6% to 1.056 million tons. Federbeton data show that from January to October 2025, Italian construction production increased by 5% year-on-year, and local government construction expenditure was about 25 billion euros, up 15% year-on-year.
Imports grew significantly while exports declined, reflecting changes in the supply and demand pattern of the domestic market. The overall improvement of the construction industry provides support for cement demand, and the increase of government investment in infrastructure has become an important driving factor. The moderate price adjustment indicates that the market competition pattern is relatively stable, and the industry has maintained its basic profitability while increasing its output.
