Argentine Cement Association (AFCP), the country's cement consumption in January 2026 was 788200 tons, down 5.3% from 832000 tons in the same period in 2025. This opening data continues the recent weakness of the market, reflecting the continued pressure on Argentina's economy under the dual pressures of high inflation and policy uncertainty.
The supply side relies entirely on local production. Domestic cement production in January was 792,900 tons, down 5.6% from the same period last year, which basically matched the decline in demand, showing the cautious capacity scheduling of producers in the context of demand contraction. Production slightly exceeds consumption, and some stocks may be used to replenish channels or cope with short-term fluctuations.
Export markets have fared even worse.
