The Colombian cement market is off to a good start in early 2026. According to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of Colombia, the national cement consumption reached 951,000 tons in January this year, an increase of 6.9% over the same period last year, indicating that the construction industry has maintained a steady momentum of development at the beginning of the new year.
From the perspective of product structure, the market shows obvious characteristics of differentiation. Bagged cement sales were strong, up 10.9% year-on-year, reflecting activity in the retail channel and small- and medium-scale construction projects; in contrast, bulk cement sales fell 2.5%, suggesting a slowdown in demand for large projects. This trend is further confirmed by the sales channel data: sales to the wholesale and retail sectors surged by 16.2%, while purchases by construction companies and contractors decreased by 8.5% year-on-year, and purchases by ready-mixed concrete companies also decreased by 8.2%, indicating that there is a significant temperature difference between scattered demand such as residential decoration and large-scale infrastructure projects.
