According to the latest cement statistics released by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, the country's cement consumption market experienced a significant recovery in the first quarter of 2026, with the total national consumption reaching 3.8963 million tons, an increase of 8.5% over the same period last year, with an increase of about 300000 tons. This performance confirms that the industry has regained its growth rhythm after experiencing adverse weather conditions at the beginning of the year.
March became the key node to reverse the overall trend. Cement consumption in that month surged 27.7% year-on-year to 1.5423 million tons, 334.1 million tons more than same period last year. This data not only strongly compensates for the construction stagnation and material consumption slowdown caused by heavy rains at the beginning of the year, but also has historic significance-according to available statistics, this is the strongest March in the past 15 years. The strong rebound in March set a positive tone for the quarter as weather conditions gradually improved and construction activity quickly restarted.
If the observation period is extended to the rolling year, the sustainability of the industry recovery will be further verified.
