Holcim recently completed the acquisition of a majority stake in Cementos Pacasmayo, a leading building materials producer in Peru, a strategic move that marks an important milestone in its Latin American expansion plans.
From the perspective of market fundamentals, Peru's cement consumption is expected to recover steadily in the next few years, reaching 13.77 million tons by 2027. However, the real attraction of this market is not due to its rapid growth, but its unique regional structure and strategic opportunities. Pacasmayo has about a quarter of the domestic market share, and its three plants in Pacasmayo, Piura and Rioja have a combined capacity of 4.94 million tons per year, with a current capacity utilization rate of only about 58%, which means Holcim can achieve production growth without major capital expenditure. In addition, Holcim acquired 28 ready-mixed concrete and precast component facilities through the acquisition, creating synergies with the Mixercon, Compa Compañía Minera and Comacsa white cement plants it acquired in 2024.
