The Argentine cement market continued its downward trend in February 2026, with domestic demand contracting by 5.3% year-on-year to 696,500 tons. According to the data released by the Argentine Cement Association, the national cement output in that month was 700900 tons, down 5.8% from the same period last year, basically covering the domestic market demand, showing that the country's cement industry has complete self-sufficiency.
Export business has become a prominent short board in the monthly data. In February, Argentina's cement export volume was only 4414 tons, down 49.2% year-on-year, almost halving, reflecting the significant weakening of international market competitiveness or the sharp contraction of overseas demand. Expanding
the observation period to the beginning of 2026, the market weakness has shown persistent characteristics. In the first two months of this year, the cumulative cement consumption reached 1,484,600 tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%; the domestic output dropped to 1,493,700 tons, with a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%. On the export side, 9113 tons were exported in the first two months of 2026, a sharp drop of 47% compared with the same period last year, confirming that the downturn in export business is not an anomaly in a single month, but a persistent severe challenge since the beginning of the year, which puts pressure on the recovery prospects of the whole industry.
