Iraqi cement production grew significantly in February 2026. According to local media reports, the production of Iraqi General Cement Company reached 676,000 tons in the month, which was mainly attributed to the stable and continuous production operation of its factories. Awad Kazem Abdul Amir, general manager of the company, said that domestic cement sales in February exceeded 664,000 tons, which not only fully met the local market demand, but also further consolidated the market position of domestic cement.
Major production bases performed well, and many enterprises recorded double-digit year-on-year growth. Among them, the Kubaisa Cement Plant had the most outstanding growth, reaching 37%; the Qaim Plant grew by 17%, and the Sinjar Plant grew by 14%. As an industry benchmark, the Kubaisa plant has produced more than 1.7 million tons in 2025, and is gradually approaching its annual design capacity limit of 1.8 million tons, showing a strong capacity utilization efficiency.
At present, the domestic cement market in Iraq is estimated to be about 25 million tons per year, and the demand is mainly supported by three major areas: housing construction, oil field infrastructure projects and post-war reconstruction projects. Faced with strong market demand, General Cement said it was continuing to promote plant performance improvement and capacity expansion plans, aiming to further enhance the self-sufficiency of domestic cement and reduce dependence on external supply.
