CES Angola will open a new cement factory in the city of Sékélé, in the province of Ikolo and Bengo, a US $25 million project aimed at boosting the supply capacity of the Angolan cement sector. The cement plant, with an initial design annual capacity of 600,000 tons, will produce UNICIMENTO brand cement and is expected to create about 200 direct jobs, providing strong support for local employment and regional industrial development.
At present, the plant is mainly engaged in cement grinding business, while a clinker production line is being built on site, which is expected to be completed in October this year. The completion of the clinker production line will significantly enhance the self-sufficiency of the plant and reduce the dependence on imported clinker. Once fully operational, the project will not only improve the domestic cement supply situation and support infrastructure construction, but also strengthen Angola's efforts to expand local manufacturing capacity. This investment reflects the confidence of foreign-funded enterprises in the long-term development prospects of the country's construction industry, and will also help alleviate Angola's dependence on imported building materials and promote industrial diversification.
