Every year, about 100 earthquakes with energy close to atomic bombs occur around the world, causing great disasters to mankind. Victor Li, an engineer at the Advanced Civil Engineering Materials Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan in the United States, has invented a new type of cement that can help buildings better resist the violent impact of earthquakes. This high-tech cement is used in the same way as traditional cement, but it is stronger, more durable, lighter, more flexible and less prone to cracks than ordinary cement used to build roads, bridges and houses.
