Recently, the 2 million kilowatt beach photovoltaic demonstration project of China Nuclear Tianwan, jointly funded by China Nuclear Huineng, Jiangsu Nuclear Power and Lianyungang local state-owned assets, has officially started the construction of the main offshore project.

The project is located in the warm water discharge sea area of Tianwan Nuclear Power Station in Lianyungang, and innovatively realizes the three-dimensional composite utilization of nuclear power sea and photovoltaic sea. It is reported that the total investment of the project is about 9.88 billion yuan , and the approved sea area is about 28000 mu, which is the first batch of demonstration projects approved by the State Council and with the largest sea area . With the orientation of "three-dimensional sea use, nuclear and optical coupling, energy storage support", the
project organically integrates offshore photovoltaic arrays, onshore booster stations and supporting energy storage and delivery projects, and coordinates with Tianwan Nuclear Power Unit 1 to 8.

It is noteworthy that the offshore photovoltaic array uses 35 kilovolt hybrid power collection mode, and the supporting construction of 200000 kilowatt/400000 kilowatt-hour energy storage power station . It is the largest offshore photovoltaic project in China, the first multi-energy complementary demonstration project of "nuclear heat, light and storage" in the world, and also the largest energy storage supporting project in Jiangsu Province. After the completion of the
project, the total installed capacity of Tianwan Base will exceed 10 million kilowatts.
