On June 16, South Korea's battery leader LG New Energy announced that the company and China's Chery Automobile subsidiary O & & J Automotive Netherlands B. V. (Hereinafter referred to as "O & J") signed a contract for electric vehicle batteries.
LG New Energy will supply 46 series cylindrical batteries to O & J for a period of 6 years, with a total order size of 8 GWh, which can support about 120000 electric vehicle. The
contract amount has not yet been determined and will be announced after the end of the suspension period.
However, according to industry experts, the contract is considerable and may exceed 1 trillion won (about 5.28 billion yuan).
LG New Energy said it was the first South Korean company to supply cylindrical batteries to Chinese automakers on a large scale and planned to start supplying Chery Automobile early next year.
