On June 16, a fire broke out at the energy storage power station of the Pohang factory in Pohang City, South Korea. The fire building is a two-storey steel structure with 8392 battery modules installed inside.
The fire department launched the highest level of "Response Phase 1" response in the morning, urgently mobilizing about 60 firefighters and 30 equipment to put out the fire.
Up to now, no casualties have been reported, but most of the main body of the building and the internal battery pack have been burned down. The cause of the accident will be investigated jointly by the police and the fire department after it is extinguished.
According to incomplete statistics, the energy storage fire is the fifth energy storage fire in South Korea this year and the second fire in June.
