Recently, a new cement plant has been put into operation in Aura District, Kampong Speu Province. The plant is jointly invested by Conch Cement and Cambodian investors, with an investment of 250 million US dollars (about 8.27 billion Thai baht) and an annual production capacity of 2.2 million tons.
At the commissioning ceremony, Cambodian Prime Minister Hong Manai said that this is the sixth cement plant in Cambodia, bringing the total cement production capacity of Cambodia to about 11 million tons per year. At present, The six cement plants in operation are Gongbu Cement Plant , Zhuoreding Cement Plant, Jimao Insee Cement Plant, Battambang Conch Cement Plant, Thai Van Long Cement Plant and Conch Cement Plant in Kampong Speu Province . In addition, there are still four enterprises that have been licensed but not put into production, one of which has been cancelled due to long-term undeveloped, one is under construction, and the other two licenses are under evaluation, and the government will decide whether to retain them or not. The establishment of
these cement plants has transformed Cambodia from a country totally dependent on imported cement to a country capable of meeting all domestic needs. In addition, Cambodia exported more than 30,000 tons of cement to Thailand in 2024. It is predicted that the demand for cement in Cambodia will soon exceed 10 million tons per year due to the continuous growth of demand in the construction industry.
