The lower reservoir dam site is 12 km away from Wulatehou Banner and about 60 km away from Bayannur City. The upper reservoir is located in the upstream of Taiyanggou in Bayinbaolige Town near the gully head. The reservoir area is mainly composed of two gullies in the east and west, and the dam is built at the intersection of the two gullies to form the reservoir. The dam site of the lower reservoir is located in the downstream of the dam ditch in the front of the middle section of Langshan Mountain in Yinshan Mountains, and the reservoir is formed by blocking the river with a few bends.
