The Provincial River Chief Office interpreted the recent document requirements of the Provincial Department on strengthening the supervision of the implementation of river sand mining planning and carrying out special regulation actions for illegal sand mining. The responsible comrades of the people's governments of Yueyang, Changde, Yiyang and nine related counties and municipalities made exchanges and speeches.
The meeting pointed out that in recent years, under the strong leadership of the provincial Party Committee and the provincial government, the whole province has adhered to ecological priority and green development, taking river sand mining as the key task of ecological environment protection and control, intensifying the efforts of river sand mining control, promoting a unified mining management model, severely punishing illegal sand mining activities, and effectively standardizing the order of sand mining. The economic and social benefits of river sand mining have been continuously improved and remarkable results have been achieved.
The meeting emphasized that the management of river sand mining is related to the stability of river regime, flood control, navigation and ecological security, and to the overall situation of economic and social development. It is a long-term, complex and arduous task. It is necessary to deeply understand that the management of river sand mining is a political task to implement the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and to implement the work of provincial Party committees and provincial governments.
