Argentina's cement market contracted in December 2025, with monthly demand falling from 765,000 tons in December 2024 to 756,000 tons, down 1.2% year-on-year and 8.9% from November. The market is entirely supplied by local producers, with no imports in the month (227 tons in December 2024). Cement production fell 1.8% year-on-year to 759 thousand tons, down 9.7% from November. On the export side, local producers exported 3333 tons, down 57.3% year-on-year and 69.1% year-on-year.
Despite the weak performance in December, cement demand for the whole year of 2025 still achieved 5.5% year-on-year growth, from 9.499 million tons in 2024 to 10.017 million tons. The output of local producers increased by 5.6% to 10.088 million tons, showing the overall recovery of the industry. In terms of external trade, exports increased by 21.3% year-on-year to 74000 tons, while imports totaled only 2822 tons, down 39.9% year-on-year.
This marked a significant rebound after a decline of 3% from 2022 to 2023 and a sharp decline of 23.9% from 2023 to 2024, marking a revival of construction and infrastructure activity. The monthly data for the whole year of 2025 are generally better than those for 2024, although there is a seasonal slowdown in December. This recovery trend shows that after deep adjustment, Argentina's cement industry is gradually stabilizing and recovering, the recovery growth of domestic demand is the main driving force, and the export growth also shows the competitiveness of products in the international market.
