According to the data of the Peruvian Cement Producers Association (ASOCEM), from January to July 2025, the total sales volume of Peruvian cement reached 6.844 million tons, an increase of 2.2% over the same period last year, of which export sales increased by 8.56% and domestic cement consumption increased by 1.43%, mainly driven by self-built projects. Self-built projects increased significantly in the northern region (6.4% in the first half of 2025), 1.4% in the central region and 0.6% in the southern region. The high demand in the real estate sector, especially in Lima, is reflected in the increase in new mortgage loans, which increased by 31% year-on-year in the first half of 2025. Cement sales
in Peru rose 5.8% in July from a year earlier, slightly slower than growth rate in June, but it was the third consecutive month of annual growth, with sales volume reaching 1.083 million tons, exceeding expectations. This growth was mainly driven by self-construction projects, which account for about 70% of cement consumption, and is closely related to the gradual recovery of formal private employment. The real estate sector also played a key role, with new mortgage lending up 18%, according to Peru's Superintendency of Banks and Insurance (SBS), while home sales in Lima were up 31%. In addition, the relatively stable prices of construction materials, especially imported materials, owing to the appreciation of the Saul against the United States dollar, favoured high-value projects.
In July, the average price of cement in the Lima metropolitan area was unchanged from June at 30.51 soles per bag, down from 30.60 soles at the end of 2024.
Looking ahead, cement consumption is expected to increase in August, possibly exceeding July's level. However, the year-on-year growth rate may be slightly lower due to the high base in August 2024 (the second highest in the year). Sales in August are expected to be slightly more than 1 million tons.
