Sumatra, Bali-Nusa Tenggara and Maluku-Papua regions saw an increase in demand in nine months. Sumatra region grew 2.4% year-on-year to 10.22 million tons, Maluku-Papua region grew 2% to 1.513 million tons, and Bali Nusa Tenggara region grew 1.7% to 3.032 million tons.
Meanwhile, the demand for cement in the Java decreased by 2.1% year-on-year to 23.834 million tons, and the sales volume of Sulawesi decreased by 6.2% year-on-year to 3.646 million tons. The decline in cement consumption in Kalimantan was the most pronounced, falling 16.8% year-on-year to 3.422 million tonnes, mainly due to the slowdown in the construction of the new capital. Despite growing competition from countries such as Egypt, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia is expected to remain the world's largest clinker exporter this year, with exports expected to reach 12.5 million tons.
