Recently, Vinod Bahety, CEO of Ambuja Cements in India, said that its goal is to reduce the cost of cement per ton by more than 13% from the current level by March 2028, while increasing production capacity to 155 million tons. The capacity target is 11% higher than company's original target of 140 million tons.
Meanwhile, the country's second largest cement producer will see its cost per tonne fall from Rs 4,200 now to Rs 3,650 in FY28. "My target is to achieve a cost (per tonne) of Rs 4,000 by March 26.". Again, our goal is to reduce 27% over five fiscal years and another 28% over five fiscal years, Bahety said on an analyst call after the company released its quarterly earnings on Monday.
