Switzerland has invested in SaltX Technology of Sweden to build the world's first all-electric cement production plant (pure electric cement plant). SaltX Technology focuses on the electrification of industrial processes, and its plasma technology is powered by renewable energy to produce clinker and centralize the carbon emissions generated by raw materials. Ram Muthu, head of Holcim's operational excellence division, said Holcim's expertise, combined with SaltX's innovative technology, provides a new boost to decarbonize the entire cement manufacturing process, helping to meet customers' demand for sustainable construction.
This investment is the decisive measure for Holcim to establish an all-electric cement production plant (pure electric cement plant), further expanding the scope of its decarbonization technology. Holcim has made 17 investments through MAQER Ventures to support the scale-up of built environment technologies. Lina Jorheden, CEO of SaltX, said that the cooperation with Holcim is a great recognition of SaltX's technology and long-term vision, and the two sides will promote the scale and industrialization of solutions through close technical and commercial cooperation.
