Local media reported that according to the application documents of the Texas National Audit Office, Tesla intends to invest $ 10.1 billion (about 681.1844 billion yuan) in the construction of Ford Bend County, Texas. US $1 ≈ RMB 6.7445) to build a vertically integrated photovoltaic plant .

The project, known as the Crystal Sun ", is planned to take up approximately 3,050 acres (approximately.37 acres 18514) near Richmond in Fort Bend County. Reported that if the project can be successfully approved and developed, it will be Tesla's largest single investment in manufacturing projects.
The $10.1 billion investment includes $1.5 billion in real estate investment and $8.6 billion in manufacturing equipment and other investments. The production capacity of the plant has not yet been specifically disclosed.
The application documents show that the project will build a vertically integrated photovoltaic manufacturing base covering the whole industry chain of "silicon material- components " . The production equipment listed in the document covers silicon ingot preparation, silicon wafer cutting, battery coating/coating, metallization and screen printing, battery testing and quality inspection, as well as automated logistics systems and clean plant facilities.
The above projects are scheduled to start construction in 2026 and complete construction in 2028. It is expected to be put into commercial production in the first quarter of 2029.
Earlier, at the end of May, it was reported that Tesla was planning to build a photovoltaic vertical integration plant covering "silicon ingot-module" at the Brookhill plant near Houston, Texas. Not only that, SpaceX was also revealed at the same time that it would build a photovoltaic manufacturing plant with an annual capacity of 10g W near Austin, Texas. Musk and the two companies did not make an official public response to
the above news. However, the above dynamics are enough to show that Musk is speeding up his 200GW photovoltaic capacity plan.
In the process of landing of Musk's photovoltaic empire, China's photovoltaic industry has always been visible. At the beginning of
this year, Musk's team visited China and visited several Chinese photovoltaic enterprises, covering equipment, batteries and other links. Then in February, it was rumored that SpaceX purchased a batch of equipment from Chinese heterojunction manufacturers, and in March, there were media reports that Tesla would purchase about 20 billion yuan of battery and component production equipment from Chinese photovoltaic equipment companies. In early July, it was also reported that Musk had finalized a contract for 400000 tons of polysilicon equipment to two Chinese enterprises.
However, in early August, there were media reports that SpaceX, owned by Musk, was trying to weaken the "medium" content in its supply chain. SpaceX has imposed a mandatory requirement on all existing and potential suppliers: manufacturing plants used to supply SpaceX are prohibited from placing Chinese employees on the job, and equipment from Chinese manufacturers needs to be replaced.
According to industry sources, due to SpaceX's "de-Sinicization" requirements, Chinese photovoltaic equipment that had been delivered to the company was also required to be returned. However, the news has not yet received an official reply.
Moreover, according to domestic photovoltaic media reports in August, a number of projects between Musk and Chinese photovoltaic enterprises have been suspended.
