local time, Solestial Inc, an American manufacturer of space photovoltaic modules , announced that it had acquired a batch of solar manufacturing equipment from the German factory of Meyer Burger, a photovoltaic manufacturer based in Switzerland.
For the acquisition, Solestial said it would help it complete the whole process of self-healing silicon solar technology from silicon wafer to battery, and enhance the company's manufacturing capacity and supply chain control.
Solestial plans to transfer the solar cell manufacturing currently carried out in Germany to the United States, thus establishing a "complete integrated photovoltaic manufacturing system with cell-to-module as the core" in the United States. "This agreement brings us critical manufacturing capabilities and significantly enhances supply chain resilience as the company expands,"

said Solestial CEO Margo de Naray. Our 30,000 square foot facility is fully operational and commissioned. With the landing of this agreement and the promotion of other related initiatives, we are building a supply chain with the United States as the core, and plan to achieve 100% landing of manufacturing links in the United States in the next year.
It is reported that the manufacturing equipment acquired by Solestial comes from the Hohenstain-Ernstthal plant in Germany.
Earlier, in August 2024, Solestial and Meyerberg established a strategic partnership.
Under the partnership, Meyerberg receives Solestial's proprietary ultra-thin, radiation-resistant silicon wafers, processes them using its heterojunction technology, and returns the processed wafers to Solestial's Tempe, Arizona, facility for metallization, post-processing, and integration into flexible solar power modules.
Previously, the two sides had planned to produce 1m W solar cells annually by mid-2025.
However, due to the impact of market competition, the German subsidiary of Meyerberg filed for bankruptcy in May 2025, and the cooperation between the two sides was interrupted.
