According to official data from Pakistan, domestic cement prices have fallen due to recent heavy rains and floods across the country. Data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) showed that the average price of 50 kg bags of cement has dropped to Rs 1,412, a drop of Rs 36 from last year's average price of Rs 1,448.
Although the overall price has decreased, there are still significant differences in cement prices in different cities. Quetta has the highest cement price at Rs 1,510 per bag, while Bannu has the lowest at Rs 1,340 per bag, the FBS report showed.
Among the major cities, cement is sold at Rs 1,367 per bag in Islamabad, Rs 1,372 in Rawalpindi, Rs 1,440 in Gujranwala, Rs 1,430 in Sayilkot, Rs 1,443 in Lahore, Rs 1,370 in Faisalabad, Rs 1,400 in Sargodha and Rs 1,409 in Multan. Bahawalpur is Rs 1,440 and Karachi Rs 1,367.
In other areas, Hyderabad cement is priced at Rs 1,427 per bag, Sukkur at Rs 1,465, Larkana at Rs 1,407, Peshawar at Rs 1,350, Khuzda at Rs 1,483 and Quetta at Rs 1,510. The decline in
cement prices is related to the decline in construction activities caused by heavy rains and floods, which has affected the demand for cement in many parts of the country.
