On July 30, according to foreign media reports, the Kyrgyz government signed two investment agreements with Vietnam Enterprise Rox Energy Global and RECA LLC. It said it planned to build a photovoltaic power plant with an installed capacity of 1.9 GW in the area.
The project, located in the village of Kizil-Oruk in the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan, is still in the initial stage of construction and is scheduled to be completed in 2027. Once the project is put into operation, it will be one of the largest solar power plant projects in Central Asia. Issues such as land allocation, power grid connection and state support policies were also covered at
the signing meeting, and the project will be financed through foreign investment.
It is reported that the photovoltaic power station is currently under construction, the equipment has arrived at the site, the component plant and office have been installed, and the land will be leveled to prepare for the installation of solar panels.
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the installed capacity of solar energy in Kyrgyzstan is 0 MW by the end of 2024.
