2025, Swiss cement shipments increased slightly by 2% to 1.786 million tons from 1.752 million tons in the same period last year. Among them, the sales volume of CEM II cement was 1.736 million tons, accounting for 97.2%, with a year-on-year increase of 1 percentage point; the sales volume of CEM I cement was only 41,000 tons, accounting for 2.3%; the sales volume of CEM III cement was less than 0.5%, only 8,000 tons.
Bulk cement continued to dominate the market, with shipments of 1.728 million tons, accounting for 96.7% of the total, a slight increase of 1.8% year-on-year; bagged cement of 58,000 tons, up from 55,000 tons in the same period last year. In terms of
downstream demand, ready-mixed concrete enterprises absorbed 70.9% of the supply, construction companies accounted for 21.9%, and concrete products industry accounted for about 5.5%. The mode of transportation is still dominated by highway, accounting for 65.4%, while the share of railway transportation has dropped to 34.6%, compared with 37.9% in the same period last year.
Looking ahead to the second half of the year, the Swiss construction industry is expected to remain solid despite the uncertainties in the external environment, with the outlook for cement demand rated as "positive" by the country's cement association cemsuisse.
