Recently, Elon Musk participated in a three-hour in-depth dialogue on AI, humanoid robots and the future energy revolution.
In the conversation, Musk expressed his great recognition and admiration for the use of solar energy resources, "I mean, the sun is everything ", "people simply do not understand how important solar energy is. Compared with the sun, all other energy sources are like primitive people throwing a few branches into the fire.

"If we say that our goal is to get one millionth of the energy of the sun, it will be more than 1000 times the energy that the earth can produce.". Only about one part in 500 million of the sun's energy reaches the earth. To get to one in a million, we need to add three orders of magnitude to that. So we are still very, very, very far away from one billionth of solar energy.
In addition, Musk reiterated that he has always been firmly optimistic about the development prospects of space photovoltaics , and he believes that space photovoltaics will have broad prospects in the future. "I do see the prospect of 100 gigawatts of solar satellites powered by artificial intelligence in space every year." During the
conversation, Musk also believed that China had left the United States far behind in the field of solar energy, and said that "China has done a very good job in the field of solar energy, which is amazing."

As for the future of energy, Musk's attitude is very firm: "The sun accounts for 99.8% of the mass of the solar system. Nuclear fusion on the earth is like making ice in Antarctica. We have a free giant nuclear reactor 930,000 miles away from our head. Why build a small one on the earth?"
He offered three ways to boost solar energy use:
Step 1: Double
the efficiency of the existing power grid power plants have a lot of spare capacity at night, but not enough at peak during the day. The solution is to use Tesla's Mega Pack batteries to store idle power at night and release it at peak during the day, so that energy throughput can be doubled without building any new power plants. Step
2: Launch a solar AI satellite
into space. Space is daylight 24 hours a day, and solar energy utilization efficiency is the highest. It takes about 8000 launches, one launch per hour, and a full year to complete the deployment. Step
3: Build a satellite factory
on the moon If you want to capture solar energy on a larger scale, you can't just launch it from Earth. Musk's ultimate plan is to build a factory on the moon, make satellites from local materials, and then put them into orbit directly from the moon. "This is the real upgrade of human civilization,"
Musk said earnestly.
