The development of energy storage directly affects the success or failure of the new power system. Thermal power generation will be reduced to less than 10% by 2060, and new power systems need to be equipped with a large amount of energy storage.

On the power side, new energy has become the largest installed capacity (source). The proportion of installed thermal power generation will be reduced to less than 10% by 2060. Thermal power generation will change from the main power supply to the regulated power supply , which will be used as the guaranteed power supply when there is no wind and solar power generation.
In this case, there will be a big change in energy storage. Because wind and solar power generation is the conversion of natural energy and has uncertainty, our new power system needs to be equipped with a large amount of energy storage to ensure power supply.
At the same time, the grid side is also changing. According to our existing statistics, 60% of the more than 200 million wind and solar power (power generation) in the Southern Power Grid are in the 110kV and below power grid. It is equivalent to that the power supply is also concentrated in the low-voltage network, and the load is also concentrated in the low-voltage network. Because the high-voltage network units are a large number of thermal power units, these power supplies have to be stopped when the wind and solar power are booming. During the Spring Festival
this year, China Southern Power Grid already had such a situation: after the thermal power units stopped, they mainly relied on wind and solar power generation to supply power. In this case, the characteristics of the new power system are very different from those of the traditional power system-the two-way interaction of power and the local balance of power are more obvious.
For the load side, due to the diversification of load types, especially the electronic power of electrical equipment on the load side, higher requirements are put forward for the system. For example, as soon as the electric vehicle is charged and the electricity price is adjusted, the maximum load of Hainan power grid has changed from the previous evening peak to the present midnight at 12 o'clock and 1 o'clock. The impact on the load side of the system is also very large.
At the same time, the development of new power system has a great impact on the industrial chain of power system. It used to revolve around coal mining, port transportation, including large-scale thermal power units and so on. Now we have to turn to the new energy power system, including the accurate forecast of wind and solar power generation in the short, medium and long term, which is also our power system, or a very important foundation for our energy work.
