On January 11, foreign media disclosed that the United States and Canada officially launched the recall procedure of Volvo EX30 on the grounds that the batteries of some models had potential fire hazards.
This time, the Volvo confirmed that 10440 EX30 vehicles in the UK were affected, and the problem was due to a potential defect in the 69 kWh Xinwanda battery pack carried by the EX30, which was found by the Volvo in its internal quality tracking.
The safety crisis can be traced back to an incident in Maceio, Alagoas, Brazil, in November 2025, when a Volvo EX30 suddenly caught fire in the dealer's workshop and the vehicle was completely burned down
. Weirui electric vehicle Technology Company, a subsidiary of Geely Holdings, filed a lawsuit with Ningbo Intermediate People's Court for a claim of 2.314 billion yuan. The complaint pointed out that the batteries supplied by Xinwangda had "serious quality problems".
