According to local media reports, recently, Silfab Solar, an American photovoltaic module manufacturer, once again suspended some employees of one of its battery module factories.
The plant, located in Fort Mill, South Carolina, USA, had been temporarily shut down in early August, and employees were assigned to equipment maintenance and other related work. The head
of Silfab Solar told the media that the main reason for the temporary shutdown arrangement was the periodic shortage of materials needed for some production. At present, the core production operation of the plant is still running, but the production shift will be reduced.
It is worth noting that in March this year, Silfab Solar was forced to stop work because of a chemical leak .
According to reports at the time, two chemical spills occurred at Silfab Solar's module plant in Fort Mill, York County, South Carolina. The South Carolina Department of Environmental Services issued a stop-work order to the company. It is reported that 300 gallons of potassium hydroxide and an unknown amount of hydrofluoric acid were leaked from the plant. These two chemicals are the key raw materials in the production of solar cells, especially in the texturing process. According to
