According to the China Seismological Network, at 4:31 on June 5, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred in Eryuan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with a focal depth of 10 km. The epicenter was about 18 km away from Eryuan County Town, and many earthquakes were strongly felt around it. The
earthquake affected the core production areas of photovoltaic silicon wafers in western China, Dali, Yunnan and the surrounding areas of Baoshan and Chuxiong. Enterprises involved in local factories include Baoshan Longji, Lijiang Longji, Yunnan Yuze, Hongxin New Energy and so on.
More violent earthquakes will cause problems such as stewing pots, dropping rods and exploding furnaces in the production of silicon rods and wafers. However, according to the telephone survey of digital new energy, most enterprises have responded that the earthquake has no or little impact on the production of local silicon wafer factories.
