2024, Russia produced 30.12 million tons of cement, an increase of 5.3% over the same period last year. From January to February, the output was relatively low, less than 4 million tons, and gradually increased to 5 million tons in March and 6.815 million tons in June. The overall output growth rate in the first half of the year was further increased compared with the same period last year.
Since 2021, Russia's cement production has increased for three consecutive years, and the growth momentum remained strong in the first half of this year. Infrastructure projects such as the upgrading of domestic airports, the expansion of the Eastern Railway, expressways and the North Siberian Railway have created a large market demand for cement in China, while the completion of private housing from January to July has shown a double-digit growth of 23%. However, some enterprises are not optimistic about the follow-up demand for cement. In the second quarter, the growth rate of cement production in each month slowed down month by month, and in June, it shrank by -1.2% year-on-year. The market believes that the demand for cement this year may be the same as last year. Regionally, the Central Federal District and the Volga Federal District account for 45% of the total cement production and are the two main production areas.
