The purpose of
formulating the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecological Protection Law is to strengthen the ecological protection of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, prevent and control ecological risks, ensure ecological security, build a national ecological civilization highland, promote sustainable economic and social development, and realize the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Ecological Protection Law stipulates that the industrial structure and layout of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau should be compatible with the ecological system and the carrying capacity of resources and environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. New and expanded industrial projects on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau should conform to the orientation of regional main functions and the requirements of national industrial policies, and strictly implement the provisions on natural resources development, industrial access and withdrawal.
Among the 59 relevant county-level administrative regions, there are Wuwei City, Zhangye City, Jiuquan City and Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province.
