< Today's Highlights & >
1. The "avalanche" price of silicon materials has dropped by 70%
compared with last year's high of 300,000 yuan/ton. Compared with last year's high, the current price of silicon materials has dropped by 70%. The "avalanche" of silicon prices led to a year-on-year decline in the growth rate of net profit attributable to shareholders of listed companies in the first three quarters of Tongwei shares, Daqo Energy and other silicon companies.
However, Liu Yiyang, deputy Secretary-General of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, believes that the profits of the photovoltaic industry chain are shifting from the silicon material and the silicon chip end to the battery end and the component end, which is the normal fluctuation of the industry. Don't worry too much.
2. Sharp: The efficiency of perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells is 33.66%!
Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp announced that its perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell has a power conversion efficiency of 33.66%, claiming that it is the most efficient stacked solar cell in the world. A tandem double-junction solar cell and a silicon solar cell are combine. The result is said to have broken the world record of 32.65% set by Sharp in 2022 under a project supported by Japan's New Energy Industry Technology Development Agency (NEDO).
3. Wacker Chemical's sales of silicon materials fell 45%
in the first three quarters compared with the same period last year. On October 26, Wacker Chemical announced its third quarter results. The company's sales in the third quarter of 2023 were 1.52 billion euros, down 29% from the same period last year. Lower sales prices are the main reason for the decline in this performance, and poor sales volume and exchange rate effects also have a slight negative impact. Sales decreased 13% compared to the second quarter of 2023. Total sales
of WACKER's polysilicon business for the period amounted to €342 million, a decrease of 45% compared with the same period last year and a decrease of 33% compared with the previous quarter. The main reason for the decline in performance is that the average price of polysilicon for solar cells is significantly lower than that of the previous year, and the sales volume is also reduced due to the limited production capacity caused by equipment maintenance.

> 1.5g W! Jingao Science and Technology Baotou Base was officially put into operation
on November 2. The commissioning ceremony of Jingao Science and Technology Baotou Base 5GW Component Project was held in Baotou Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park. It is understood that Jingao Science and Technology Baotou Base Component Project , with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan , adopts the most advanced technology, intelligent equipment and green low-carbon system to produce Jingao's latest N-type high-efficiency component series products. After the project is put into operation, Jingao Science and Technology Baotou Base has formed the production capacity of 30GW crystal pulling, 20GW slicing, 5G W components and related auxiliary materials, and the annual sales revenue is expected to exceed 10 billion yuan.
of JA Plus Vietnam Factory recently inspected the silicon rods of JA Solar (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. The silicon wafer and high performance photovoltaic cell production project adjusts the capital increase project to issue the investment license.
Accordingly, Jingao Solar Energy (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. made an additional adjustment of 378 million US dollars (equivalent to about 2.767 billion RMB) to invest in expanding production. The purpose of the project is to produce solar cell modules and products. Output (calculated by cell capacity): silicon rod 2.5G W/year; silicon wafer 5GW/year; photovoltaic cell 5G W/year.
