On October 7, Photovoltaic magazine published an article saying that the price of solar cells in China is expected to hit a record low after the Golden Week.
Photovoltaic magazine quoted OPIS , a Dow Jones company, as saying that the price of solar cells stopped falling last week due to the stagnation of project construction during the Golden Week holidays in China. It ended three consecutive weeks of decline in battery prices in overseas markets. According to OPIS data, prices temporarily stabilized at the lowest level ever last week-monocrystalline M10 and G12 battery prices remained unchanged at $0.0814 per watt and $0.0836 per watt, respectively; The TOPcon M10 battery price also remained at $0.0856/W this week.
In addition, most industry insiders agree that battery prices are expected to hit a new low after the festival. A seller source predicts that the price of P-type M10 cells will drop to around RMB 0.61 (US $0.085)/W after the festival, while the price of TOPCon M10 cells will continue to rise by RMB 0.05 (US $0.0069)/W over last year.
OPIS The prediction of the price difference between the P-type and N-type M10 batteries was confirmed by a second seller source, who predicted that the P-type M10 batteries could fall to around 0.63 yuan ( $0.088)/W after the holidays. The TOPCon M10 battery will be reduced to RMB 0.68 (US $0.094)/W.
According to market observers, the current profit margin of battery producers is around 10-15%. Therefore, the person expects that battery prices will still have room to fall after the festival.
Industry insiders expect battery prices to fall, mainly due to the decline in demand for batteries from downstream component manufacturers as a result of production cuts by some component manufacturers. In addition, due to the serious oversupply , component prices are also in a bearish mood , so cell prices will inevitably be affected by downstream pessimism.
On the other hand, a source at an integrated manufacturer expressed doubts about the forecast that battery prices would continue to fall after the holidays. "After all, the price of batteries has dropped by about 14% in the past three weeks, which is a big number," the source explained.
A source from a professional battery manufacturer concluded that the price of polysilicon played an important role in the decline of battery prices after the festival. At present, there is little room for the price of silicon wafers and batteries to fall. The sources added that more substantial price cuts would have to wait until polysilicon prices fell to free up room for price cuts for wafers and batteries.
