On December 15, at the 2023 Annual Conference of Photovoltaic Industry held in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, Wang Bohua, honorary chairman of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, said that the growth momentum of photovoltaic industry was strong from January to October 2023.
On the manufacturing side, from January to October, the output of polysilicon in China was about 1.14 million tons, the output of silicon wafers was about 460 GW, the output of cells was about 404 GW, and the output of photovoltaic modules was about 367 GW. The production of silicon materials, silicon wafers, batteries and components increased by more than 70% year on year, reaching a record high.
At the same time, in terms of photovoltaic installed capacity, the newly installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in China was 142.56 GWat, an increase of 145% over the previous year, a record high, of which more than half of the newly installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in China came from photovoltaic power generation.
In addition, China's photovoltaic products (silicon wafers, batteries, modules) are worth about 43 billion US dollars, but the export of photovoltaic products shows a trend of "volume increase and price decrease". He said that from 2021 to October this year, the cumulative export of photovoltaic products (silicon wafers, batteries, modules) has exceeded 122.6 billion US dollars. In less than three years, the cumulative export volume increased by 44% compared with the five-year period of the 13th Five-Year Plan. Driven
by market demand, the export volume of photovoltaic products increased. The export volume of silicon wafers, cells and modules was 55.7 GW, 32.4G W and 177.6G W respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 90%, 72% and 34% respectively.
However, affected by the rapid decline in prices, the growth rate of export volume from January to October declined. From January to October 2023, China's total export of photovoltaic products was about 42.99 billion US dollars, down 2.4% from the same period last year.
Among them, compared with the same period last year, the share of the top three export markets has declined to varying degrees, the component export market tends to be more diversified, and the regional share outside the top ten markets has increased significantly. However, Europe is still the largest component export market, accounting for about 52.9% of exports, compared with the same period last year, but the proportion has declined, by about 2%. Component exports to Asia have increased, while emerging markets such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are developing rapidly.
