But at the same time, Zeng Yuqun also said that while fully affirming the achievements of the industry, we should also be aware of some of the current challenges. He believes that the energy storage industry has the following main challenges :
First, security risks need to be highly valued. According to incomplete statistics, by May 2025, there had been 167 energy storage safety accidents in the world. With the increasing call frequency of energy storage system , the safety of energy storage power stations is facing a greater test. Many important energy storage node power stations of independent energy storage can not rest, and have been working and withstanding the test of time.
Second, the price competition is extremely fierce. Zeng Yuqun introduced that the price competition in the energy storage industry is extremely fierce at present. In the past three years, the price of energy storage system has dropped by about 80% , and the winning bid price of a recent centralized procurement project is even lower than 0.4 yuan/Wh , which seriously deviates from the cost. He believes that low prices will inevitably lead to reduction and allocation, which will bury hidden dangers of quality and safety for the industry.
Third, some product parameters are falsely marked. Zeng Yuqun introduced that many enterprises do not make efforts in research and development, but only make articles on product parameters and pat their heads on quality assurance life. From the operation effect of the project, the life of some projects is far below the promise.
Fourth, the problem of technology homogenization appears. Zeng Yuqun said that with the support of capital, many enterprises have chosen to take shortcuts, tend to copy and copy, and will not innovate and develop independently. "Innovation and R & D cost money," he said. The question is, if everyone wants to take shortcuts, who will do the innovation?
The five is disorderly expansion and rushing headlong into mass action. Zeng Yuqun said that at present, there are more than 300 thousand registered energy storage enterprises. Full marketization will accelerate the shuffling of the industry, a large number of enterprises will be eliminated, and "orphan power stations" will emerge . Zeng Yuqun introduced that the so-called "orphan power station" means that the enterprise has been closed, but the power station is still there and no one maintains it.
In this regard, Zeng Yuqun believes that the energy storage industry to achieve high-quality development, to do the following four points:
First, to adhere to the bottom line of energy storage safety. Safety is the foundation of energy storage development, once a safety accident occurs, it will impact the investment logic and social trust of the whole industry. "We must put safety at the forefront of all decisions." The safety of
energy storage is a systematic project. Second, build an empirical and credible market environment. Reality is the guarantee of sustainable development of energy storage industry and the basic requirement for market participants.
