this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China reached a new high of 1.404 billion kilowatts, an increase of 20.8% over the same period last year.
The National Energy Administration anchors the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutralization, and takes various measures to promote the development of renewable energy with high quality. Following the breakthrough of 1.3 billion kilowatts in June this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China has reached a new high, exceeding 1.4 billion kilowatts by the end of October, reaching 1.404 billion kilowatts, an increase of 20.8% over the previous year, accounting for 49.9% of the total installed capacity of power generation in China. Among them, 420 million kilowatts of hydropower (370 million kilowatts of conventional hydropower, 50.04 million kilowatts of pumped storage), 404 million kilowatts of wind power, 536 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation and 44 million kilowatts of biomass power generation. It is estimated that by the end of the year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China will exceed 1.45 billion kilowatts, and the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation will exceed 1 billion kilowatts. From January to October
this year, the installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in China increased by 191 million kilowatts, an increase of nearly 100 million kilowatts over the same period last year, an increase of 90.8% over the same period last year, accounting for 76.4% of the newly installed capacity in China. Among them, 8.44 million kilowatts of hydropower, 37.31 million kilowatts of wind power, 142 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power and 2.32 million kilowatts of biomass power were added. It is estimated that the newly installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation in China will exceed 200 million kilowatts in 2023. From January to October
this year, China's renewable energy generation reached 2.33 trillion kWh, accounting for 31.8% of the country's total power generation, including 980.5 billion kWh of hydropower, 696.8 billion kWh of wind power, 489.8 billion kWh of photovoltaic and 164 billion kWh of biomass. It is estimated that the annual renewable energy generation will reach 3 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for about 1/3 of the total electricity consumption of the whole society.
