Recently, Maxeon Solar (Maxeon), a leading silicon wafer holding company in TCL Central, accused Shanghai Aixu and its subsidiaries of infringing its European patents on solar cells in German courts.
On November 16, Aixu made a positive response to the matter, saying that after repeated verification by Aixu's intellectual property team and the European intellectual property law firm, there was no patent infringement, and it would actively respond to the lawsuit (for details, please click: Photovoltaic giant "patent war" again! As the controlling shareholder of Maxeon, TCL Zhonghuan issued a notice on November 17 to make a statement on this matter.
In the announcement, TCL Zhonghuan explained what a back contact solar cell is. Back-contact solar cells, such as Maxeon's IBC cells, differ from traditional front-contact solar cells, which have metal contacts on the front surface that block sunlight and reduce efficiency. Back-contact solar cells maximize efficiency and energy yield by exposing the front surface of the cell to full sunlight without any metallic contacts.
At the same time, TCL Zhonghuan said that Maxeon is the first company in the world to develop and mass-produce IBC batteries on a large scale, and has the technology of IBC series batteries with independent intellectual property rights. As a shareholder of Maxeon, TCL Zhonghuan fully supports Maxeon's "rights protection" behavior, and will fully support Maxeon and its subsidiaries, including but not limited to legal means, to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests when similar intellectual property infringement is found to involve damage to Maxeon's legitimate intellectual property licensing.
