On June 7, the Energy Bureau of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region announced the preferred results of the photovoltaic sand control project in 2026, and announced the implementation list of the photovoltaic sand control project with a total scale of 6GW.
The project is located in Hangjin Banner and Etok Front Banner of Ordos City, and the main applicants involve central enterprises such as Datang Group, CGN, CECEP and China Resources New Energy, as well as enterprises such as Baofeng New Energy and Ordos New Energy Development and Utilization Co., Ltd.
Earlier, on May 30, the Energy Bureau of Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, launched the competitive allocation of photovoltaic sand control projects in 2026, requiring enterprises to declare their investment capacity and performance in new energy or photovoltaic sand control, promising to synchronize the design, construction and acceptance of photovoltaic construction with the control of desertified land, and to meet the conditions for grid access and absorption. Enterprises need to submit documents to the competent energy department of the banner area before participating in the competition.

It is noteworthy that on June 1, the Energy Bureau of Alxa League and the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Alxa League of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have also launched the competitive allocation of photovoltaic sand control experimental projects.

Publicity information shows that the total installed capacity of the photovoltaic sand control experimental project is 5.5 million kilowatts , and 220000 mu of desertified land is harnessed.
Among them, the installed capacity in Azuo Banner of Wulanbuhe Desert is 2 million kilowatts, and 80,000 mu of desertified land is harnessed; the installed capacity in Alashan High-tech Zone of Wulanbuhe Desert is 2 million kilowatts, and 80,000 mu of desertified land is harnessed; The Tengger Desert Luanjingtan Demonstration Zone has an installed capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts and controls 60000 mu of desertified land.
According to the requirements of the document, the project implements centralized site selection, the scale of single declaration is not less than 1 million kilowatts , and the area of photovoltaic integrated sand control per 10000 kilowatts is 400 mu (including photovoltaic land ). By the end of 2027, the construction of photovoltaic desertification control experimental project and desertification land control will be completed.
