Lafarge Zambia Cement Plant Unveiled

< P > < FONT face = Verdana > a few days ago, Lafarge, the world's largest cement producer, held an unveiling ceremony for its cement plant in Zambia. The new plant is located in Chilanga, near Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, with a total investment of about 90 million US dollars and an annual capacity of 830,000 tons. With the completion and commissioning of the new plant, Lafarge's cement plant in Zambia will have a capacity of 1.3 million tons.

< P > < FONT face = Verdana > Over the past five years, the construction industry in Zambia has been growing at an annual rate of more than 10%, and the demand for cement has been increasing. The Zambian cement market is expected to grow by 15-20% in 2008.

On May 7, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Zhou Yuxiao was invited to visit the Lafarge Zambian Cement Plant in CHILANGA, Lusaka. Representatives of more than 10 Chinese-funded enterprises, including China Aviation International and Cathay Pacific Iron and Steel, attended the event. Ambassador Zhou had a friendly conversation with Emmanuel Rigaux, CEO of Lafarge Zambia. He also said that the factory will further expand its cooperation with Chinese-funded enterprises in Zambia to provide customers with better products.
